Cold Winds
A cold wind blows
whipping across this desolate plain
throwing up ice
shooting pain as it pelts my bare face
I look upward
and I'm blinded by the sun and glare
more ice crystals
stinging my eyes
I close my eyes
and I wait, praying this pain will pass
but it doesn't
and I know now that it will not
for all of time
shall have to endure this stinging pain
in both my sleep
and waking hours
This cold wind blows
bringing change, change to loathe and fear
This frigid plain
was once forrested with dearest friends
All blown over
by those winds which now pelt my face
making me think
I must be next
